Steains Residence
Melbourne and Geelong-based AMG Architects created a simple, elegant open-plan home in the natural surroundings at Marcus Hill near Queenscliff, Victoria.
The residence, inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright’s prairie-style house designs of the early twentieth century, is broken into two north-facing wings. It is linked via a striking natural limestone hearth that punctuates the horizontal rooflines and creates a prominent architectural statement.
AMG Architects’ clever and interesting building design constantly reinforces the dynamic between outside and inside spaces, drawing one’s eye to the landscape beyond.
The Steains’ Residence represents modern elegance in the Australian landscape at its best.
